Introduction To Honors

My Views

During this course we familiarized ourselves with the many available research resources available through our institution. A class period was spent with a librarian who walked us through the databases and peer reviewed journals available to students. Although a simple Google search may be easier, the effectiveness and reliability of using peer-reviewed journals and websites lends more credibility to one’s work. We learned to do broad queries using the library’s search function, how to use different journals depending on the topic being researched, and how to identify peer-reviewed and other credible resources. This addresses the first level of Information Literacy, which is the ability to access information effectively, efficiently, and critically.
